Learn About Disney’s Card Hold Policy
Hey Disney park fans! As some of you may know, staying at an onsite Disney Resort can add alot of magic and convenience to your stay. There have been many change over the past couple of years with resort perks and policies. Some changes were not favored by park guest, and others like the complimentary parking returning was a happy change.
We have a newer policy that we would like you all to be aware of. Guest will have the option to do online check-in 60 days before arrival. This will allow guest to go directly to their rooms and skip the lobby check-in process. This is a very convenient feature that we highly recommend.
While filling out the online check-in from, guest will need to add a credit card. This card will be used for Disney's newcard holding policy that will occur the day of your arrival.
Here's the details:
On the day of arrival, Resort hotels will place an authorization hold on your card for any balance due on the reservation—plus $100 for estimated incidental expenses. If your spending exceeds the original $100 hold, additional incremental holds will automatically be obtained. The authorization holds on the card will not exceed the current balance due plus $100. Payment is processed for the balance due on the account after checkout. For reservations longer than 5 days, the card on file will be charged the current balance on the Resort folio(s) every fifth day of your stay and after checkout.
In general, charges will be settled and posted to the card within 1 to 2 days after checkout day. You will only be charged for what you actually spent and any authorization holds in excess of the balance due will be released after checkout day. This policy doesn’t change your booking terms and conditions.
If you’ve booked a reservation that must be prepaid—or if you’ve opted to provide full payment in advance of your stay—the balance due upon check-in is zero dollars, and only the $100 authorization hold for estimated incidental expenses will be placed on your card. For a reservation that is not prepaid, an authorization hold for the remainder of any balance due on the reservation and an additional $100 for estimated incidental expenses will be placed on your card upon the scheduled arrival date. Additional authorization holds will automatically be placed on the card, through and until the end of your checkout day, as incidental expenditures exceed the amount previously authorized to the card. So what does this all mean?
Basically, the day you arrive, Disney will charge your card $100 dollars. This will be forincidental expenses(gratuities and other minor fees or costs incurred in addition to the main service, item, or event paid for during visit). Whatever money you do not use will be credited back to your account. So basically, you're not being charged more money, however seeing a $100 hotel charge on your first day can be alarming.
If you wish to avoid this policy all together, you can simply opt out of the online check in. The day of your arrival, simply head to the lobby and check-in with a lovely cast member. As always, we hope this information help create a little extra magic during your stay.
