Genie+ Rides & Attractions
On October 19th 2021, Disney World launched brand-new features in the My Disney Experience app the Disney Genie, Disney Genie+, and Individual Lightning Lane Attraction. For this breakdown we will be focusing on Disney Genie+
With Disney Genie+, guests will have access to new Lightning Lanes (FastPass lanes) and be able to bypass the standby lines at over 40 different attractions throughout all four parks. This is an optional additional costs of $15- $35 per person, per day in Disney World not including tax. Yup, there’s a tax to skip the stand-by queue.
Guests can choose to purchase Disney Genie+ on the day of their trip as early as midnight. Those who purchase in advance will need to buy Disney Genie+ for every day of their visit and cannot select only certain days. To help you better understand Genie+, there are a few things you should know:
You can purchase Genie+ for $15-$35(plus tax) per person the day of your park visit. Price will range depending on which park you visit and crowd levels.
We recommend if you're going to take advantage of Genie+, try to purchase by 6:40am. Guest staying onsite get to take advantage of early Genie+ ride selections starting at 7am. If you’re going at park times, you may want to purchase at 12am the day of your visit. Genie+ can sellout.
If you receive a return time for an attraction that is over a 2 hours out, you can make another reservation 120 mins after you have booked your first LL attraction. Note: The 120 min mark starts after park opening. Example: you make a LL for peter pan at 7am. The return time is 5:25pm. The park opens at 8am so you can make your next LL selection at 10am. I know it's kind of confusing.
Rides can run out of Genie+ availabilities. Purchasing Genie+ does not guarantee you access to attractions. Genie+ is a first come first serve system. If you have an attraction that you wish to select and it is not available, keep checking back. If you keep refreshing the app, new attractions options will often generate.
Another thing to keep in mind about Disney Genie+ is that you will ONLY be able to ride each attraction once using Genie+. However, you can ride as as many times as you would like through the standby line.
Each ride only has a limited number of Genie+ windows per day, availability is limited. If you can’t find the ride you’re looking for or a ride time that is convenient for your schedule, we encourage you to keep refreshing your app an availability may pop up.
Pro-Tip: Immediately after scanning your MagicBand/MagicMobile to ride the attraction at the second touch point, get on the My Disney Experience app while in line and select a new LL attraction. You should always a ride ready to go!

Do We Recommend Genie+
Genie+ can be great to have for busy park days or for those with limited amounts of park days. The parks we recommend you purchase for the most is Magic Kingdom and Hollywood studios. This is not something that we think is a “must have” for your vacation. If you are clever and know how to navigate the parks you can still have a wonderful park day without having to spend extra money. However, this can be a huge benefit to you day and allow you more time to see the parks at your own pace.
