Our Recommendations for Seuss Landing

Hey Universal park fans! Today we want to highlight a commonly over looked land located in Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventures. Seuss Landing is a themed area located within Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park. It is based on the beloved children's books written by Dr. Seuss. The whimsical and colorful land brings to life the characters and settings from Dr. Seuss's stories, creating an immersive experience for visitors of all ages. This is one of the only lands theme for the younger park guest, and of course the ride will reflect this. You will not find any thrills rides in this land, just family friendly slow moving attractions. This land is a lot of fun, and very well themed. One we believe should not be over looked! Here’s our recommendations for you and your family!

In Suess Landing, you'll find vibrant architecture, larger-than-life sculptures, and plenty of interactive elements inspired by the illustrations found in Dr. Seuss's books. The area is designed to resemble the imaginative world of Seuss, with curving paths, with towering Truffula trees, wacky buildings, and fantastical landscapes. Fun fact, there are no 90 degree angles within this land! Even the trees are unique! Universal saved trees that were damaged from hurricanes and used them in the land due to their curved shapes.

In Seuss Landing at Universal's Islands of Adventure, you'll find several attractions and experiences that bring the world of Dr. Seuss to life. Here are the main attractions you can enjoy:

  • The Cat in the Hat: This is a dark ride that takes you on a journey through the story of "The Cat in the Hat." You board a spinning couch and follow the mischievous Cat in the Hat as he creates chaos in the house of Sally and her brother Conrad.

  • One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish: This is an interactive ride where you board fish-shaped vehicles that glide and twist through a water-filled landscape. Riders are prompted to move their vehicle up and down to avoid streams of water being squirted from various directions.

  • Caro-Seuss-el: This is a classic carousel with a Seussian twist. Instead of traditional horses, you can ride on whimsical characters from Dr. Seuss's stories, such as the Grinch, Horton the Elephant, and the Sneetches.

  • If I Ran the Zoo: This is a play area where children can explore and climb through a colorful and interactive Seussian zoo. There are slides, tunnels, and various interactive elements to keep young visitors entertained.

  • The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride!: This elevated train ride takes you on a journey above Seuss Landing, offering scenic views of the area. The train passes by iconic Seuss characters and landmarks from the books. Pro-tip: This attraction is a wonderful attraction to ride at night.

All of these attractions are recommend for the little ones in the group. Like mentioned before, Universal at this time does not have very much to offer the younger guest. Or top recommendations are The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride!, The Cat in the Hat, and One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. If you have littles one that enjoy exploring, this land will have a lot to offer as well. The If I Ran a Zoo play area, has several tunnels and places to explore. Also throughout the land are little nooks of hidden gems, so keep an eye out for hidden tunnels and walkways.

In addition to the attractions, Suess Landing offers delightful dining options that continue the whimsical and playful theme inspired by Dr. Seuss's stories. These dining establishments in Seuss Landing provide a variety of options for visitors to grab a quick bite or enjoy a meal in a vibrant and imaginative setting. The menus are designed to cater to both children and adults, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy while immersing themselves in the world of Dr. Seuss. Here’s our top locations!

  • Green Eggs and Ham Cafe: This quick-service restaurant is based on the famous book "Green Eggs and Ham." The menu features a variety of options, including breakfast items like green eggs and ham, as well as burgers, sandwiches, salads, and other kid-friendly meals. This location has the best tater-tots on property! They’re crunchy on the outside, and soft and fluffy on the inside. And the topping often pair nicely with the tots. This is a really wonderful snack location, and the plates are often shareable. The seating is outdoors and very limited.

  • Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous: This circus-themed eatery is named after the fictional circus from the book "If I Ran the Circus." The menu includes items like burgers, chicken fingers, salads, wraps, and desserts. However the star of the menu is the fired chicken! We were surprise by how flavorful and juicy the chicken was for a theme park quick service location. The colorful and lively ambiance creates a fun dining experience for guests of all ages. This is a great location to go to if you’re looking for a quick bit while enjoying some AC.

  • Hop on Pop Ice Cream Shop: Located within the Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous, this shop offers a selection of frozen treats and desserts. You can find ice cream cones, sundaes, milkshakes, and other sweet treats to satisfy your cravings.

  • Snookers and Snookers Sweet Candy Cookers: Many theme park guest consider Disney when it comes to beautiful and fun themed sweet treats. However, this shop offers tasty and wonderfully themed treats! This colorful store offers a wide range of sweet treats and candies inspired by Dr. Seuss' whimsical world. You can find an assortment of candies, chocolates, fudge, and other delightful confections to satisfy your sweet tooth. As well as their themed candied apples!

  • Honk Honkers: Honk Honkers is a snack stand located in Seuss Landing that specializes in various sweet treats, including oversized cotton candy! The shop is designed with vibrant colors and Seussian theming, making it a fun and whimsical place to grab a snack.

These dining establishments in Seuss Landing provide a variety of options for visitors to grab a quick bite or enjoy a meal in a vibrant and imaginative setting. The menus are designed to cater to both children and adults, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy while immersing themselves in the world of Dr. Seuss. If you have any dietary needs, be sure to always consult a team member regarding your options.

Another thing we recommend is interacting with the characters! In Seuss Landing guest can meet and interact with several iconic characters from Dr. Seuss' books. The characters often come out with a character handler that will announce their arrival, guest can gather around and interact and take photos with their favorites. Some of the characters that you might see are:

  • The Cat in the Hat: The mischievous and whimsical feline, known as The Cat in the Hat, can often be found wandering around Seuss Landing. You can have your picture taken with him and engage in playful interactions.

  • Thing One and Thing Two: The mischievous duo, Thing One and Thing Two, are often seen causing delightful chaos in Seuss Landing. You can meet them and join in their antics, posing for photos and having fun.

  • Sam-I-Am(as seen above): Known for his persistent efforts to persuade others to try green eggs and ham, Sam-I-Am is a character you might encounter in Seuss Landing. You can interact with him and share a laugh or two.

  • The Grinch: Although not strictly located in Seuss Landing, during the holiday season, you may have the opportunity to meet the Grinch near the entrance to Seuss Landing. The Grinch, famous for his Christmas-stealing antics, can be quite the character to engage with.

Please note that character availability may vary and is subject to change, so it's always a good idea to check with park staff or consult the park's official website or app for up-to-date character meet-and-greet locations and schedules during your visit to Seuss Landing.

Finally, we recommend visiting some of the shopping locations! Seuss Landing features several shops where you can find a variety of merchandise inspired by Dr. Seuss' beloved characters and stories. Here’s our favorites:

  • Cats, Hats & Things: This whimsical shop is located at the entrance of Seuss Landing. Cats, Hats & Things offers a wide range of Dr. Seuss-themed merchandise, including apparel, accessories, toys, books, and collectibles. You can find t-shirts featuring The Cat in the Hat, Thing One and Thing Two plush toys, and other fun items showcasing various Seuss characters.

  • Mulberry Street Store: Inspired by Dr. Seuss' book "And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street," this shop is filled with vibrant colors and imaginative designs. Here, you can find a variety of Seuss-themed apparel, hats, accessories, and gifts. It's a great place to pick up souvenirs and keepsakes from your Seuss Landing adventure.

  • All the Books You Can Read: The perfect stop to peruse the newest addition (or two) to your Dr. Seuss library.
