Recent Permanent Closures
Islands of Adventure- The Nighttime Lights At Hogwarts™ Castle
The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade in Universal’s Islands of Adventure will close for an unknown extended period of time for “future show enhancements.” Its last performance, for the time being, will be May 9, 2023. The show features magical projections on Hogwarts Castle, accompanied by music, lighting, and fireworks. This show happens on select nights beginning at dusk and runs approximately every twenty minutes at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade.
Rumors are this show will be re-imagined to include show light drones to create even more magic to this Wizarding World nighttime celebration! Were excited to see what the future show will offer!
Poseidon’s Fury- Islands of Adventure
Poseidon's Fury permanently closed at Universal's Islands of Adventure on May 9, 2023 to make way for "exciting new experiences,". Poseidon's Fury is located in The Lost Continent area of Universal's Islands of Adventure. This attraction has one of the more impressive exteriors of any attraction within the park. Poseidon's Fury first opened at Universal's Islands of Adventure in 1999 making it one of the opening day attractions. This 20-minute walk through attraction is led by an archaeologist that takes guest through the tomb of Poseidon.
We are excited to see what Universal will bring to this location! We think it has a lot of potential to become a top tier attraction. There has been year of speculation of Poseidon’s Fury being re-themed to a Legends of Zelda ride. With the popularity of the new Mario Movie, we think this could be an interesting possibility.
Shrek 4D- Universal Studios
Say farewell to our green friend Shrek, as Universal Orlando Resort has confirmed that Shrek 4-D will permanently closes on January 10, 2022. That’s right, permanently!
This attraction was created in 2003 after the success of Shrek in 2001, with an 18-year career, during which it welcomed millions of visitors. Shrek’s Ye Olde Souvenir Shoppe will also close. If you’re a Shrek fan you’re probably real upset right now, but do not worry we do have some good news— Donkey will continue interact with guest from his wall even in the attraction’s absence. As always we will continue to follow the progression closely and keep our clients/readers updated with any new updates. Be sure to subscribe to stay in the know.
