Magic Kingdom Closing Super Early in January
There’s a lot that goes into planning a visit to Disney World! There’s picking the right hotel, park tickets, dining reservations, Genie+ attractions, and of course park reservations. When making your park reservations, it’s VERY important for you to check the park hours for the dates that you're selecting, if you don't you may run into a major unexpected disappointment.
Imagine, being in Magic Kingdom having a wonderful day and suddenly you're being told by cast members that you have to leave the park at 4:30PM with you planned on being there until 9:00pm. You paid full price for your park ticket, and you’re only getting a half day.. without fireworks!
This situations will be sure to happen to some guest early 2023. Magic Kingdom will close early on January 31, 2023, at 4:30PM for a private event. Magic Kingdom usually hosts Cast Member celebrations and private events early in the year, when the park is less busy.
Recommendations
If you have park reservations for Magic Kingdom this day and you do not have a park hopper, you will want to change your reservation ASAP!
If you do have a Park Hopper, we actually highly recommend that you start out with this park. The single park day guest that are aware of the park hours, will most likely choose a different park for that day. Meaning the park will be much less crowded than other days of your visit.
Always keep checking park hours. They are subject to change at anytime. Do not miss out on your must dos!

If I have reservations on the 31st, can I go to a different park once Magic Kingdom closes?
Only if you have a park hopper ticket. If you have a Single Park Day Ticket, you are only allowed to visit one park per day, regardless of hours.
If I have a reservation made for Magic Kingdom for Jan 31th, 2023, can I change it to a different park?
Yes, as long as the other parks have availabilities. Go to the My Disney Experience app and click on your park reservation and select modify. Make sure to screen shot your confirmation.
How do I keep tract of park hours and avoid missing out on my park must dos?
You can check park hours on the Disney website, or in your My Disney Experience account under your plans if you have already made your park reservations. Please note: If you make your park reservations early, the hours may not be released until closer to your arrival date. Be sure to keep an eye out for updates.
